Reports from Argentina

Sneak Preview

I have so much stuff to tell you guys that my head is about to explode! And yet I don't have any time at all right now.

Just to give a sneak preview: the kids from ¡NO PASARÁN! and I spent last night sleeping right in the middle of a big avenue in the north of Buenos Aires as part of a round-the-clock picket in front of a supermarket.

Waking up at 6 AM on an asphault street, setting old tires on fire to cut off traffic, facing police armed with steel riot shields and shotguns – these were all new things for me.

But as I said, I cannot write a report right now. I have a terrible sunburn and a throbbing pain in my head and I haven't eaten or slept much in the last 24 hours. So I'm going to eat and sleep now. Sounds like a solid plan. Tomorrow I will sit down in the darkest, dankest internet café I can find to spend hours and hours writing an oppressively detailed report of this incredible day.

Then I have to start working through the points in my "THINGS TO WRITE ABOUT" notebook, like whatever happened to that occupied bakery from a few weeks ago, a Marxist analysis of Peronism, and of course more installations of my Election Round-up (including the candidates this time!).

So don't touch that dial!

Sounds fantastic – we should do our own version of the "Wish you were here" travel show.
